Note:
Thierry includes this Đại Hòa Thông Bao, inspired by the coins originally issued by Lê Nhân Tông under his reign title Thái Hòa (太和) (1443 – 1454), in his category of unofficial issues reusing Vietnamese inscriptions.

Note:
This coin, although crudely cast, appears close in design to Hartill’s GCC 2.808a, and close to the modal size and modal weight within his category: ‘Small Copper – Distinct Calligraphy, Group 1. (“An Phap” type)’. Hartill has reviewed the various hypotheses for the chronology of An Phap-type coins advanced by Thierry and others. He proposes (GCC, p. 143) that they were manufactured in North Vietnam under the Mac between 1540 and 1590. This provisional dating has been followed here.
