Overstrike

Specimen's reverse is re-struck with same reverse type at 6 o'clock axis. Unusually, mint mark evidence and RIC VI chronology suggests overtype is of earlier series than the undertype (Group III, series ii on Group IV, series ii). Re-use of earlier die?

Note:

Omissi and Lindholmer argue for the sharing of territory by Augusti Galerius and Licinius from 308 CE. Antioch is therefore considered here to fall under both their 'reigns' as joint senior emperors and Augusti of the eastern empire, with Maximinus as their junior Caesar administering the region.
