This piece curiously and incorrectly gives the date of Shakespeare's birth as 1574, rather than 1564. The Stratford memorial bust gives Shakespeare's dates quite clearly: OBIIT ANO DOI 1616 ÆTATIS٠53 DIE 23 APR. ("He died AD 1616; in his 53rd year, April 23rd"). The obverse type seems to be the same as HCR95705. Contra the notes, this specimen cannot long predate 1887, when the fountain was erected. Also see HCR95768, HCR95769, HCR95772.
